Job summary

Maersk at Zurich Airfreight Station is seeking an Air Freight Operations Associate to own end-to-end handling of shipments. You will manage shipment files, coordinate with customers, carriers and handling agents, and ensure reliable execution from booking to completion in a fast-paced, international environment.

The role requires independence, operational judgement and strong service orientation, with opportunities to deepen airfreight expertise within Maersk's global network.

Qualifications

• Completed commercial apprenticeship in freight forwarding or logistics.
• Experience in airfreight operations, import/export processes.
• Further professional qualifications such as eidg. dipl. Speditionsfachmann/-frau are welcome.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage airfreight import and export shipments from booking to completion.
• Own end-to-end operational files including documentation, milestones, costs, invoicing and accuracy.
• Coordinate closely with customers, carriers, handling agents, customs partners and Maersk network.
• Make independent operational decisions regarding routing, capacity, priorities and exception handling.
• Proactively identify and resolve operational issues while keeping customers and stakeholders informed.
• Ensure compliance with applicable operational, customs, security and dangerous-goods requirements.
• Maintain a high level of customer service and take ownership of the overall customer experience.
• Support continuous improvement, operational efficiency and initiatives within the Zurich Station.

As an Air Freight Operations Associate, you will be responsible for the end-to-end operational handling of airfreight shipments. You will take ownership of your shipment files, coordinate with customers, carriers, handling agents and colleagues across the Maersk network, and ensure reliable and efficient execution from booking through completion. The role requires a high degree of independence and operational judgement. You will proactively manage priorities and exceptions, resolve operational issues and contribute to a high level of service for our customers. You will join an experienced team in Zurich and work in an international environment with opportunities to further develop your airfreight expertise and career within Maersk.

Qualifications

• Completed commercial apprenticeship (kaufmännische Lehre), preferably in freight forwarding, international logistics or a comparable field.
• Solid practical experience in airfreight operations and a good understanding of import and export processes.
• Further professional qualifications, such as eidg. dipl. Speditionsfachmann/-frau, are highly welcome.
• Strong ability to work independently, recognize priorities and make sound operational decisions.
• High level of ownership, reliability and problem-solving ability.
• Commercial awareness and confidence in dealing with customers, carriers and internal stakeholders.
• Well organized and able to maintain oversight in a fast-paced operational environment.
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
• Fluent German and English; French is an advantage.
