The Business & Industry Training Supports Branch is seeking qualified applicants for the role of Project Officer.

Qualifications:
Essential:
- High school diploma, GED, or Canadian Adult Education Credential. Post-secondary education in business administration, social sciences, project management or a related field is preferred. A suitable combination of education and work experience may be considered.
- Experience working with a variety of stakeholders, such as business and industry, sector councils, industry organizations and other government departments.
- Ability to read, understand and analyze cash flow reports, and other commonly used financial reporting documents.
- Experience with the use of spreadsheets and formulas for the purposes of tracking, budgeting, and work planning, including budget development, Gantt and Kanban-based planning, process flows, and task prioritization.
- Ability to assess and evaluate funding or project proposals (or related requests) and make decisions or recommendations in accordance with program policies or mandates.
- Experience in contract management and program administration.
- Ability to manage confidential information in accordance with The Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA).
- Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to identify and mitigate risks and develop solutions.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritise numerous projects and files with tight deadlines.
- Excellent written communication and grammatical skills including the ability to prepare accurate, clear, and concise professional documents.
- Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to work effectively with a variety of stakeholders.
- Strong verbal communication skills.
Desired:
- Experience in project management, including expertise in project lifecycles, project planning, innovation, change management, budgeting, and schedule estimation.
- Familiarity with Integrated Case Management Systems (ICMS) and SAP.
Duties:
The Project Officer (PO) performs specialized and significant administrative work in support of the two units within the Business & Industry Training Supports (BITS) Branch. The PO supports Management and Consulting staff across five program areas to ensure effective and efficient day-to-day implementation of contract management and information management systems including recommending and developing systems improvements. The Project Officer is a first point of contact for external public inquiries, providing information and/or redirecting to appropriate branch/divisional/government program/service.
The PO may participate as a team member on inter-intra government committees, negotiating terms of reference and supporting other team members. The PO will explain reporting expectations and procedures to the company/service provider and respond to questions about program areas the branch offers. In addition, the PO will work with the company/service provider to perform financial monitors to ensure all program expenditures are within approved funding parameters.
