Lab Technician jobs in France

We are currently recruiting an experienced Electromechanical Test Lab Engineer to join our team supporting our client in the automotive industry.

NOTE:

• Onsite
• Must be willing and able to travel to the USA, without restrictions, effective on the start date
• Valid driver's license is required as well as a clean driving record

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work with customers in defining the test request, obtaining buy in from local management for cost, timing, material and headcount requirements
• Completion of corrosion vehicle teardowns and e-coat vehicle dissections
• Instructing a team of technicians and co-op students in the teardown and dissection process documenting issues and concerns
• Fixturing, testing and data collection related to Elastomeric and Chassis based vehicle components. Various hydraulic and mechanical testing equipment will be designed and used to meet customer requests
• Typical documentation will include extensive film thickness readings, metal loss readings and laser scanning of components as required
• Reporting and communicating of proper information to affected product engineers, Chassis or virtual analysis engineers will be an important aspect of this position
• Communicating between customers and local management is critical for developing a testing demand
• Coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics in performing part changeovers, test setups and fixture fabrication
• Working collaboratively with the mechanic supervisor, union, management, maintenance and facilities teams
• Coordination and shipping of specimens and samples to various product engineers and suppliers
• Working with external suppliers to lead the dissections of various components, track budgets and help generate purchase orders
• Other departmental activities will include taking and analyzing test data, compiling report, tracking equipment downtime and analyzing data fidelity

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical/Electrical/Automotive/Material Engineering required from an accredited university
• 1+ years of experience on the effects of corrosion on various metal alloys/compositions
• Knowledge of vehicle body, chassis and suspensions systems
• Previous experience in paint and corrosion evaluation is desirable
• Competent with the Microsoft Office Suite of products including Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, VBA
• Strong time management, leadership, planning and follow up skills
• Excellent written and oral skills
• Team Center and NX knowledge would be an asset
• Knowledge of fixture design and manufacturing processes
• Data processing

PREFERRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

• Engineering experience within the automotive industry, testing experience
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• Good communication and leadership skills are required to coordinate and instruct bargaining unit mechanics
• Minimum of 1 year of engineering experience within a testing environment within the automotive industry. Past co-op positions at ARDC are an asset
• Must be legally authorized to work in Canada with ability to travel to USA
• Ability to support working days, afternoons, midnight shifts and weekends on occasions
• Experience working in a unionized environment
• A valid driver’s license as well as a clean driving record is required
• MTS software experience
