Time frame: School Calendar Year (September to June) with an option to renew.

The School Nurse supports medically fragile children and their families in the community. You will provide complex pediatric nursing care within a school setting and sometimes in the child's home before and after school. The successful candidate will work throughout the school calendar year, excluding school holidays and PD days.

Candidates with pediatric experience are preferred.

1. Engage regularly with clients, families, and caregivers

1. Registered with the College of Nurses of Ontario
2. Current CPR and First Aid certification (requested upon hiring)
3. Experience working with pediatric clients is preferred
4. Experience in community health is an asset

1. Knowledge of community resources is an asset
2. Excellent assessment, teaching, problem-solving, and communication skills
3. Ability to adapt nursing practice independently in various situations
4. Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team

1. Must have a personal vehicle, a valid driver’s license, and proof of vehicle insurance
2. Current and original satisfactory Criminal Records Check
3. A Vulnerable Sector Search and/or Child Abuse Registry Check may be required
4. Use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required

This role requires attention to detail in a dynamic environment, involving physical activities such as lifting, carrying, bending, reaching, kneeling, and other movements emphasizing good body mechanics. The role involves walking, sitting, standing, and climbing stairs, with some tasks requiring fine hand movements.
