Job description

Overview

Are you proud to see projects you were a part of constructed in an environmentally sustainable manner? Do you like to solve problems? Are you someone with strong leadership and technical capabilities? Do you enjoy building relationships and working collaboratively in a team environment with both internal and external stakeholders? Are you a thought leader, a trusted advisor and an innovator? If you enjoy entrepreneurship and problem solving, this opportunity is for you!

Your opportunity

We offer flexible work hours and hybrid work arrangement options to help balance the competing demands of work and personal life.

As we grow our teams with exciting and interesting work, we are looking for an experienced leader to help grow and develop the team. You will help lead an energetic team through mentorship, coaching and technical development to grow our environmental services within Atlantic Canada. As a part of our team you will have the opportunity to partner with clients to identify the environmental and permitting risks to their projects, develop solutions that will address project needs, and recommend protection measures to support project development in an environmentally sustainable manner. Although this role is focused on Atlantic Canada, you may also have the opportunity to become involved in cutting edge, industry leading projects across Canada.

  • Scope, plan, develop, and implement assessment programs for a variety of projects across the public and private sectors.

  • Coordinate project team activities, provide direction to project team members, and contribute to development of staff.

Learning & Development

  • Continued development of self, including both technical skills and business acumen.

  • Contribution to the career development of less tenured staff, including technical direction, training recommendations, coaching, and mentoring.

  • Contribution to Dillon’s corporate profile through active participation in professional associations.

Qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • A university degree or post-undergraduate college diploma in a relevant environmental, physical science, or engineering related discipline.

  • A minimum of 8 years of demonstrated professional experience in environmental consulting, industrial, regulatory setting or related field with the specific emphasis on environmental permitting.

  • Valid driver’s license (Class 5)

Experience
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant provincial and federal environmental legislation, regulations, policies, guidelines, and regulatory permitting and approval requirements.
  • Experience in the preparation of regulatory applications and submissions.
  • General working knowledge of various environmental and social science disciplines with a specific focus on identifying potential environmental effects and mitigation associated with a proposed development.
  • Expertise in a related technical discipline (such as terrestrial ecology, wildlife biology, aquatic biology, air quality, etc.) is an asset.
  • Experience in conducting public, stakeholder, and Indigenous engagement and consultation would be considered an asset.
  • Excellent Project management and client relationship skills.
  • Advanced critical thinking, organizational and interpersonal skills.
