Come work as a Youth and Young Adult Job Developer with Vancouver Coastal Health (VCH)!Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Youth and Young Adult Job Developer to join the Richmond Foundry team in Richmond, BC. Apply today to join our team!As an Youth and Young Adult Job Developer, you will:

  • Provide supported employment services for youth and young adult clients with mental health disabilities.
  • Establish rapport with clients and their family; encourages and supports the exploration and attainment of educational and employment goals and provides information on volunteer and/ or employment opportunities and/or job training/retraining initiatives and programs.
  • Interview clients to identify interests, skills, work values, job readiness and suitability for employment opportunities.
  • Provide assistance with resume writing, job search and retention skills.
  • Facilitate resume and/or interview preparation workshops. Identifies prospective employers within the community appropriate to client’s work profiles.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with vocational resource organizations, provincial and federal vocational training programs, wage subsidy programs, etc. to foster employment opportunities for client group.
Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Community Social Service Diploma or completion of a recognized program in psychosocial rehabilitation or equivalent.
  • Two years' recent related experience with job coaching, marketing and development with client’s with disabilities, or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Valid B.C. driver's license.

Knowledge & Abilities

  • Knowledge of the principles of recovery in mental illness.
  • Knowledge of community, social, mental health and health resources.
  • Knowledge of employment marketing and coaching, with individuals with disabilities.
  • Knowledge of issues affecting youth and young adults.
  • Ability to demonstrate and assist client with development of employment and training skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.
  • Ability to work independently and in cooperation with others.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to establish/maintain working relationships with external agencies.
  • Proven computer skills and ability to utilize contemporary software applications including MSWord, Excel, Outlook and the Internet.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under pressure, to work independently with minimal direction, problem solve, take initiative, anticipate potential problems/conflicts and take appropriate actions.
  • Ability to work within a team environment and to operate standard office equipment.
  • Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.As per Ministry of Health policy, all health care workers working in publicly-funded health care facilities are required to report their past receipt of certain vaccines or history of certain infections. Collecting these records will allow for offering of any missing vaccines, and for appropriate actions to be taken in the event of any future exposure to a communicable disease or during outbreaks. For all new hires and appointments to Vancouver Coastal Health, you will be asked to provide this information as part of the onboarding process.
