Job summary

Covenant House Toronto is seeking a Youth Worker for Day and Evening shifts within the Resident Services & Winter Respite Department. The role supports a 24/7 operation, manages up to 10 youth, and collaborates with Case Managers to implement care plans.

Day shifts 8am-4pm and evening shifts 3pm-11pm, onsite. Requires college/university degree in child and youth work and trauma-informed experience.

Qualifications

• College or university degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
• Minimum two years' experience in a shelter or residential setting using a trauma informed approach.
• Knowledge of adolescent developmental theory and specific issues related to street youth.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• First Aid, CPR.
• Ability to identify, assess and intervene differentially with youth in crisis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Ongoing assessment and attendance to youth’s physical and emotional needs from a trauma-informed lens.
• Develop a plan with the client and Case Manager to address needs and goals.
• Facilitate life skills and recreational activities through individual and group work.
• Meet with youth daily for support with plan elements.
• Connect youth to community resources and social supports as needed.
