Job summary

Covenant House Vancouver is seeking an Overnight Sanctuary Program Youth Worker to support youth aged 16–24 in a low-barrier, trauma-informed setting. The role runs Friday to Sunday, 8pm–8am, with paid breaks and on-site support.

You will engage youth, assess immediate needs, and provide practical resources like food, clothing, and transportation. As part of a compassionate team, you will foster respectful, non-judgmental relationships, document care activities, and participate in ongoing

Qualifications

• Diploma or degree in related social service.
• Minimum one year in a low-barrier, harm-reduction setting; or 3+ years full-time experience in a similar role.
• First Aid & Non-Violent Crisis Intervention is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Greet and assess youth; provide resources (food, clothing, transport).
• Build relationships with at-risk youth (16–24).
• Complete program intake/admission and orient new youth.
• Assist youth in exiting street life and accessing supports.
• Support youth with addictions, mental health, and behavior management.
• Provide crisis intervention and Naloxone as needed.
• Document client notes, incident reports, and manage case files.
• Coordinate youth meetings and activities; arrange recreation and life skills.
• Attend training as directed by Team Leader.
• Maintain professional boundaries and adhere to trauma-informed practice.
