Job summary

Covenant House Toronto is seeking a Youth Worker for the Resident Services & Winter Respite Department, onsite, full-time, permanent, Level 6. The role supports a 24/7 operation with day and evening shifts in both Respite and Resident Services.

Responsibilities include ongoing assessment of youth needs, development of plans with youth and Case Managers, facilitating life skills and activities, and daily documentation. Join a mission-driven team delivering trauma-informed care.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in child and youth work or equivalent.
• At least two years of shelter/residential experience with trauma-informed approach.
• Understanding of adolescent development and street youth issues.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office.
• First Aid and CPR certification.
• Ability to assess and intervene with youth in crisis.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Knowledge of community resources.

Responsibilities

• Assess youth needs and provide trauma-informed care.
• Develop plans with youth and Case Manager.
• Facilitate life skills and activities.
• Meet with youth daily to support plan elements.
• Connect youth to community resources.
• Complete intake interviews and discharges with Shift Supervisor.
• Manage routines, room access, laundry, and supplies.
• Provide individual counseling and behavior management.
• Document progress on youth case plans.
• Attend Case Management and team meetings.
• Update supervisors about concerns.
• Participate in program evaluation via outcome tools.
• Handle incidents, intakes, and discharges documentation.
• Answer phones and log intakes and referrals.
