Job summary

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • 1-year post-secondary studies preferred.
  • Must be Lac La Ronge Indian Band member aged 16–35.
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's Licence.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Experience in office administration.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills.
  • Positive, outgoing, mature attitude.
  • Must provide satisfactory Criminal Record Check and Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

  • Advertise and recruit Lac La Ronge Indian Band Members between 16-35 for employment.
  • Review applications, shortlist, conduct interviews, selection and hiring.
  • Collect RC/ VSC, draft offer letters and payroll documents.
  • Maintain files of YWEP workers and secure records.
  • Coordinate with program supervisors for work placements and training arrangements.
  • Schedule courses, book hotels, arrange transportation and meals.
  • Collect timesheets, compile reports, monitor sick leave and hours.
  • Prepare final evaluation reports for YWEP workers.

The Lac La Ronge Indian Band's Post-Secondary Department is now accepting applications to fill the following term position (ending April 2027) in La Ronge, SK:

Youth Work Experience Program Coordinator (YWEP)

The suitable candidate will be able to perform the following duties:

  • Work with Human Resources to advertise & recruit Lac La Ronge Indian Band Members between the ages of 16-35 to begin employment;
  • Review applications, shortlist, conduct interviews, selection and hiring;
  • Collecting and organizing YWEP applicants Criminal Record Check, Vulnerable Sector Check, drafting offer letters and other documents that payroll requires;
  • Maintain files of all YWEP Workers and ensure all records are updated and secured.
  • Work with various program supervisors to secure work placements for their departments;
  • Disperse department applications, review applications to see the requirements;
  • Ensure that basic training for the YWEP workers by providing schedules, courses from qualified instructors, basic training will include but not limited to:
    • Orientations to YWEP, First Aid/CPR, WHMIS, SCOT, Safe Food Handling
  • Coordinate with program supervisors for performance and disciplinary matters of YWEP Workers;
  • Basic Scheduling of courses, book hotels, arrange transportation and meals for program employees;
  • Collect all YWEP Workers timesheets, ensure they are completed properly, compile a group report, monitor YWEP Workers and provide information in regards to sick leave, STAT pay, and work hours if needed;
  • Complete and compile a final report which includes evaluations to be done by YWEP Workers.

The suitable candidate will possess the following qualifications:

  • Grade 12 Education or it's equivalent;
  • 1-year Post Secondary Studies preferred;
  • Must be a Lac La Ronge Indian Band Member between the ages of 16-35;
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License;
  • Supervisory experience shall be preferred;
  • Experience in office administration;
  • Strong organizational skills;
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • Positive, outgoing, and mature attitude is essential;
  • Must be able to provide a Satisfactory Criminal Record Check/Vulnerable Sector Check and SGI Driver's Abstract
