Job summary

Annapolis Valley First Nation in Nova Scotia seeks a Post Majority Support Services Coordinator to help youth aging out of Mi'kmaw Child and Family Services. Working in the Community Services Department, the Coordinator will provide direct client support, coordinate programs, access funding, and advocate for youth transitioning to adulthood.

The role focuses on life-skills, financial literacy, and connection to community, culture, and supports.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related field or equivalent combination of education, training, and lived experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong organizational, time-management, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professional boundaries.
  • Valid Nova Scotia Driver's Licence and reliable transportation.

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct client support to youth and young adults aging out of care.
  • Coordinate access to programs, services, supports, and funding opportunities.
  • Advocate for youth transitioning to adulthood within community networks.
  • Maintain accurate, confidential client records and documentation.
  • Support life skills development, including budgeting and financial literacy.
  • Collaborate with Elders, knowledge keepers, and partner organizations.
  • Assist with planning, delivery, and evaluation of community programs and events.
  • Monitor program expenditures and assist with budget tracking.
