Job summary

Sheshegwaning First Nation is seeking a Post-Majority Support Worker to provide culturally safe, strengths‑based support to young adults aged 18 to 29 who are transitioning from care, kinship placements, customary care arrangements, or involvement with child and family services.

This role focuses on budgeting, education, housing, and employment readiness, with a 4-day work week and a comprehensive benefits package. Preference will be given to qualified members of Sheshegwaning First Nation.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or degree in Social Services, Child and Youth Care, Indigenous Studies, Human Services, or related field preferred
  • Minimum two years of experience working with young adults
  • Knowledge of child welfare systems and post-majority supports considered an asset
  • Must have a valid “G” Class driver’s license
  • Flexibility, if overtime or evening work is required

  • Support applications for secondary, post-secondary, and training opportunities
  • Encourage youth participation in traditional teachings, ceremonies, language, and cultural activities
  • Support youth in securing and maintaining safe housing
