Job summary

Warden Woods Community Centre in Scarborough, ON seeks a Youth Program Manager to plan and deliver year-round programming for youth aged 12-24 at 74 Firvalley Court and other sites as needed.

The role leads a 2-5+ FTE youth team, manages budgets, and partners with staff and volunteers to create safe, inclusive, and engaging youth programs while supporting funding applications and reporting to funders.

Qualifications

• 3+ years in hands-on youth program leadership with supervision of paid staff
• 2+ years in drop-in/unregistered youth programming leadership
• 3+ years in program planning, development and implementation
• 2+ years developing/updating program procedures and policies
• 3+ years de-escalation and conflict resolution with youth
• 2+ years planning/evaluating programs
• 1 year writing grants/reports for community programming
• Education/Training related to youth work or community development
• Knowledge of Scarborough/Toronto youth resources is an asset
• Ability to engage Black and racialized youth and staff
• Ability to iterate program design to improve outcomes
• Excellent English communication; another language is an asset
• Capability to lead music/arts programming is an asset
• Capability to lead employment/skills development programming is an asset
• Familiarity with Warden Woods neighbourhood is an asset
• MS Office/MS365 proficiency required
• Valid first aid certification required
• Food Handler Certification and food service experience an asset
• Police reference check (vulnerable sector) required
• Must be legally entitled to work in Canada

Responsibilities

• Lead year-round programming for youth 12-24 including 74 Firvalley Court activities
• Provide consistent leadership for participants, staff and community
• Develop and implement safe, productive program procedures and policies
• Supervise and develop youth staff, hire and evaluate staff and volunteers
• Identify staff training and capacity-building needs
• Oversee program budgeting and resource development
• Schedule staff, volunteers and third-party supports to ensure proper coverage
• Develop participant feedback and program evaluation mechanisms
• Communicate program challenges and successes to leadership
• Maintain youth-centered relationships with families and the community
• Address oppression-related issues and promote anti-oppressive environment
• Ensure daily opening/closing of program spaces and maintenance of facilities
• Uphold code of conduct and address misconduct appropriately
• Stay current with best practices in youth engagement
• Contribute to youth-focused advocacy within the organization and community
• Support cross-departmental collaboration and WWCC initiatives
• Other duties as assigned
