Youth Pastor Job Posting

OVERVIEW:
Renew Church (Surrey, BC / renew-church.ca) is actively seeking a full-time Youth Pastor to provide
pastoral leadership to our church’s youth and the community around us. The ideal candidate will
have visionary leadership skills, overseeing strategic expansion in our youth ministry.

POSITION SUMMARY:
The Youth Pastor, a 40-hour-per-week staff member ($25/hour starting), will lead discipleship
efforts of Grades 7-12 youth at Renew Church. Responsibilities include developing and
overseeing Jr. High and Sr. High ministry, including volunteer recruitment, training, and
oversight. The Youth Pastor will report to the Lead Pastor.

QUALIFICATIONS:
I) Clear testimony of faith in Jesus Christ and willingness to become a member of Renew Church.
II) Completed or working towards a University/College/Seminary degree or equivalent in
theological studies and/or youth ministry.
III) Experience in youth ministry or related field.
IV) Demonstrates leadership, equipping, and discipleship abilities.
V) Ability to teach biblically sound doctrine in compelling, age-appropriate ways.
VI) Strong written and oral communication skills.
VII) Strong intergenerational relational skills.
VIII) Ability to initiate and complete tasks without prompting.
IX) Commitment to the principles of “Plan to Protect”.
X) Teachable and open to feedback and accountability.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
I) Implement Renew Church’s vision and values in youth ministry.
II) Develop strategies for youth outreach and discipleship with the gospel.
III) Organize mid-week discipleship/outreach and Sunday School classes for Jr. and Sr. High
students.
IV) Effectively provide well organized administrative oversight of the ministry.
V) Implement ways to assimilate new youth into the ministry.
VI) Provide leadership in discipling and mentoring youth.
VII) Integrate youth and families into church life, ministry, and worship.
VIII) Recruit, train, and equip youth and leaders for effective ministry.
IX) Collaborate and partner with the Staff Team in the greater ministry efforts of Renew Church
as assigned by the Lead Pastor.
