Job summary

Options Community Services is seeking a Youth Outreach Worker to support youth aged 16–19 connected with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. You will build goal-driven plans, teach life skills, and connect youth with community resources.

Reporting to the Program Manager, you will assess needs, provide referrals, document progress, and collaborate with other professionals. A driver’s license and PIC checks are required; a strong team attitude is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a related field is required.
• Current Basic First Aid certificate.

Responsibilities include building rapport, assessing needs, providing life skills instruction, and making appropriate referrals to community resources. The worker will liaise with professionals and agencies, maintain documentation, and contribute to public relations and program development. The role also involves identifying positive activities to engage youth, advocating and mentoring, and linking youth with ongoing support. The position requires teamwork, adherence to directives, and fostering a positive work environment.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree in a related field, with experience working with youth facing emotional, social, and behavioral challenges. Relevant experience will also be considered. Required skills include a current Basic First Aid certificate, strong communication skills (written, verbal, and interpersonal), and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision. The candidate should possess good organizational and time management skills, cultural sensitivity, be effective in a team environment, and have a commitment to problem-solving and confidentiality. A valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle are required.

This role requires the incumbent to undergo a Police Information Check (PIC), and a Vulnerable Sector Check by the Ministry of Justice.
