Job summary

Cooper Equipment Rentals is seeking a customer‑oriented yard worker to join our Ottawa team. You will wash, detail, and maintain equipment, assist with loading, and operate forklifts or other construction equipment as needed.

Responsibilities include inspecting returned gear, following safety policies, and coordinating with teammates to keep the yard organized. A valid driver's license and the ability to lift 50 lbs are required; forklift experience is a definite asset. Overtime may be available.

Qualifications

• Valid Class G/5 driver’s license with clean or satisfactory abstract.
• Able to lift approximately 50 lbs and stand for long periods.
• Forklift license or experience operating forklifts is a definite asset.
• Comfortable working outdoors year-round; overtime availability.

• Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading equipment.
• Operate forklift and other construction equipment.

• Assist with fueling, tire storage, or moving equipment as needed.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.

What You’ll Be Doing

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Wash, dry, and detail equipment using pressure washers, vacuums, and cleaning agents.
• Maintain a clean and organized equipment yard and wash bay area.
• Assist drivers with loading and unloading equipment.
• Operate forklift and other construction equipment.
• Check equipment for damage when returned to the yard, report damage and fill out service tags for all returned equipment.
• Follow all health and safety policies.
• Assist with fueling, tire storage, or moving equipment as needed.
• Communicate with team members and supervisors to ensure smooth workflow.

Qualifications And Requirements

What You’ll Bring to the Team

• Valid Class G/5 driver’s license required, with a clean or satisfactory driver’s abstract (no more than 3 demerit points). You’ll be required to provide a copy of your updated driver’s abstract upon request.
• Physical stamina and ability to stand for long periods.Must be able to lift approximately 50 lbs.
• Forklift license or experience operating forklifts and/or other construction equipment is a definite asset.
• Must be comfortable with working outdoors year-round.
• Available and willing to work overtime when required.
• Mechanical aptitude and/or previous experience operating equipment is an asset.
• Excellent problem-solving and organizational skills.
• Highly adaptable and thrives in a fast-paced environment.
• Self-starter, very customer-service oriented and works well in a team environment.
• Curiosity to learn new things & understand more about construction equipment and the rental industry.
• Comfortable with computers/technology (for filling out inspections, inventory management, etc.).
