Job summary

Heritage Co-op 1997 Ltd. in Erickson, MB, is hiring a full-time Transportation associate. The role focuses on delivering a World Class Customer Experience, assisting customers with product selection, loading purchases, and handling inquiries.

You will load/unload materials, operate forklifts, and keep the yard and warehouse organized and safe. Required are a high school level education (preferred), a valid Class 5 license, and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.

Qualifications

• Completion of high school is preferred.
• Experience in customer service, retail, lumber, or building materials is an asset.
• Class 5 Driver's License required; Class 3 with Air Endorsement is an asset.
• Forklift experience or certification is an asset.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, loading purchases, deliveries, inquiries, and product knowledge.
• Load, unload, receive, inspect, store, and organize materials in yard and warehouse areas.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently following safety standards.
• Deliver products to customers safely, accurately, and professionally.
• Merchandise and maintain yard inventory; ensure proper storage, display, and signage.
• Maintain cleanliness and safe conditions in yard, warehouse, and outdoor storage areas.
• Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, and other operational duties as assigned.

Job description

• Provide exceptional customer service by assisting customers with product selection, loading purchases, deliveries, inquiries, and product knowledge; collaborate respectfully with Team Members to support a positive work environment and deliver a World Class Customer Experience.
• Load, unload, receive, inspect, store, and organize building materials, hardware, and other merchandise in the yard and warehouse areas.
• Operate forklifts and other equipment safely and efficiently while following workplace safety standards and company procedures.
• Deliver products to customers as required, ensuring deliveries are completed safely, accurately, and professionally.
• Merchandise and maintain yard inventory, ensuring products are properly stored, displayed, signed, and maintained according to company standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and housekeeping standards in the yard, warehouse, and outdoor storage areas; remove debris and ensure a safe working environment.
• Assist with inventory counts, stock replenishment, product transfers, and other operational duties as assigned by the Home Centre Manager.

Education and Experience:

• Completion of high school is preferred.
• Previous customer service, retail, lumber, or building materials experience is considered an asset.
• Class 5 Driver's License required.
• Class 3 Driver's License with Air Endorsement is considered an asset.
• Forklift experience or certification is considered an asset.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
• Commitment to ongoing learning and development within the retail and building products industry.
• Knowledge of workplace safety practices, including WHMIS, is considered an asset.
• Home Centre and yard environment requiring prolonged standing, walking, bending, lifting, carrying, and repetitive movements.
• May be required to lift and carry items up to 25 kg and work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Requires adherence to occupational health and safety standards and safe equipment operation procedures.
