Zusammenfassung

DECAST in Ontario is hiring a full-time WSIB & Leave Management Specialist to join our Human Resources team. You will manage WSIB claims, disability leaves, and return-to-work processes while providing day-to-day HR administrative support.

This role requires coordinating with employees, supervisors, healthcare providers, and external claims partners, maintaining confidential case files and accurate documentation in compliance with legislation and company policy.

Qualifikationen

  • Post-secondary education in HR, business administration, disability management, or related field.
  • 3–5 years HR experience with WSIB, disability management, leaves of absence, and return-to-work.
  • Experience with WSIB claims and Ontario employment legislation.
  • Experience handling confidential medical and employee information.
  • Strong organization and time-management skills with multi-case handling.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication; attention to detail.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office; HRIS experience is a plus.

Aufgaben

  • Manage WSIB claims from initial reporting through to resolution and closure.
  • Serve as a primary HR contact for employees, supervisors, WSIB, healthcare providers, and external claims management partners.
  • Monitor active WSIB claims and ensure required documentation is completed and submitted timely.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSIB claim files and case documentation.
  • Review WSIB decisions, entitlement information, work restrictions, benefits, and return-to-work requirements.
  • Coordinate with supervisors to identify suitable modified work and accommodations.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence (medical, parental, pregnancy, family-related).
  • Maintain leave start dates, expected return dates, extensions, and documentation.
  • Monitor absences and follow up on return-to-work dates and outstanding documentation.
  • Ensure restrictions and accommodations are communicated to the right people.
  • Maintain confidential case files for active/closed leaves.
  • Assist with WSIB audits and HR projects.
  • Support HR projects, policy updates, process improvements.

We are looking for a full-time WSIB & Leave Management Specialist to join our Human Resources team in Utopia, ON. The WSIB & Leave Management Specialist is responsible for managing and coordinating employee absences related to WSIB claims, disability cases, leaves of absence, and return-to-work processes while providing day-to-day HR administrative support.

This position serves as a key resource for employees, supervisors, managers, and the Human Resources team by ensuring absences and claims are managed consistently, accurately, and in accordance with applicable legislation, company policies, and established HR practices.

The successful candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, sound judgment, discretion, and the ability to manage confidential employee information and multiple active cases simultaneously.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Manage WSIB claims from initial reporting through to resolution and closure.
  • Act as a primary HR contact for employees, supervisors, WSIB, healthcare providers, and external claims management partners.
  • Monitor active WSIB claims and ensure required documentation, forms, and correspondence are completed and submitted in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date WSIB claim files and case documentation.
  • Review WSIB decisions, entitlement information, work restrictions, benefits, and return-to-work requirements.
  • Coordinate with supervisors and managers to identify suitable modified work and accommodation opportunities.
  • Manage employee leaves of absence, including medical, parental, pregnancy, family-related, and other statutory or company-approved leaves.
  • Maintain accurate records of leave start dates, expected return dates, extensions, and required documentation.
  • Monitor employee absences and proactively follow up on upcoming return-to-work dates and outstanding documentation.
  • Ensure restrictions and accommodation requirements are communicated appropriately to those who need the information to facilitate a safe return to work.
  • Maintain confidential case files and documentation for all active and closed leaves.
  • Maintain employee LOA and WSIB files and ensure required documentation is complete and up to date.
  • Assist with WSIB audits and ensure HR records are maintained in accordance with company requirements.
  • Support HR projects, policy updates, process improvements, and other departmental initiatives.
Skills, Education & Experience
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources, Business Administration, Disability Management, Occupational Health & Safety, or a related field.
  • 3–5 years of progressive HR experience, preferably with experience in WSIB, disability management, leaves of absence, and return-to-work coordination.
  • Experience working with WSIB claims and Ontario employment legislation.
  • Experience managing confidential medical and employee information.
  • Strong understanding of accommodation and return-to-work practices.
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple active cases and competing priorities.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook; experience with HRIS systems is an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is considered an asset.
