Humber Polytechnic is seeking a Writer and Content Creator in Creative Services and Special Projects at the North Campus. The role focuses on writing and content creation for integrated communications and supports multimedia production for internal and external audiences.
Reporting to the Associate Director, you will develop copy, plan interviews, review materials, and contribute to research, grant proposals and publication content.

Salary Range: $38.09 - $44.04
Starting Salary:$38.09; Progression through the payband is in accordance with the increments in the payband as outline in the Full-Time Support Staff Collective Agreement based on actual service in the payband.
The Marketing and Communications department consists of Creative Services, Communications, and Marketing.
The Creative Services and Special Projects team captures Humber events and initiatives through photo and video work. The team includes photographers, videographers, and content creators to support Faculties and Departments through creative storytelling.
The Communications team produces and shares stories and information about Humber with the Humber community and the world through media relations, social media, internal communications, corporate storytelling, and issues management. The work of this team supports student recruitment, informs, and engages current student and faculty audiences, institutional stakeholders and partners, alumni, and the local community.
Humber's marketing team leads institutional marketing strategy, multichannel advertising, brand strategy and stewardship, with a strong focus on driving recruitment through awareness and preference building. The team provides strategic consultation throughout the institution, supporting both ongoing operations and project-specific needs.
The Writer and Content Creator, Creative Services and Special Projects (WCC) is a member of the Creative Services team within Marketing and Communications and is responsible for writing and content creation for integrated communications that positively enhance the image and reputation of Humber College Institute of Technology and Advanced Learning.
Reporting to the Associate Director, Creative Services and Special Projects, the WCC is responsible for the development, flow and completion of copywriting and supporting the production of multi-media content for projects within the department for external and internal audiences. The incumbent is responsible for content development including effective interviewing, journalism subject research and video script writing, production support for video and photo assignments such as scheduling, talent sourcing, location scouting, workback schedules and onsite for shoots for multiple communication platforms at Humber to support projects within Marketing and Communications. The role is also required on occasion to develop and edit multimedia content. The role writes or contributes to research & grant proposals, award submissions and other Humber or project-based publications The WCC also creates content to support the Communications team for strategic, executive, departmental, and faculty initiatives.
The WCC has demonstrated experience and strong knowledge of:
Education
Three-year diploma/degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or other relevant disciplines.
Experience and Skills
A minimum of two years working as a writer, journalist, content creator and/or public relations/communications specialist.
Key skills include writing, managing, planning, interviewing and producing postsecondary/corporate publications and web content; writing news/ feature stories for print, web and social; supervising editorial flow, logistics, timelines and requirements for all projects; editing print, video and web-based content, superior oral, written, social media communication and interview skills.
Experience writing speeches, project briefs/memos, and award/grant applications.
A self-starting storyteller with journalistic interviewing and writing skills and the ability to work independently.
Experience project managing or producing short form videos including management of planning, casting, logistics and overseeing production and postproduction.
Ability to create and integrate different types of content into published stories and articles.
Ability to plan, organize, and support large-scale events with multiple internal and external stakeholders.
