Job summary

Alberta Health Services in Calgary is seeking a Registered Nurse specialized in Wound, Ostomy and Continence (NSWOC) to assess, plan, implement and evaluate care for patients with wounds and ostomies. You will provide consultation to inpatients, outpatients and families, and teach frontline staff in ostomy, wound and continence management.

The NSWOC RN will participate in education delivery, research, and committee activities, support colorectal surgical patients, and help manage patient flow

Qualifications

• Completion of an accredited nursing education program.
• Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA).
• Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP) certification.

Responsibilities

• Clinical support, consultation and one-on-one education for frontline staff on ostomy, incontinence and wound management.
• Patient and family education.
• Formal education delivery (classroom, staff meetings).
• Participation in research or committee work related to wound or ostomy care.
• Education and preparation of colorectal surgical patients.
• Managing patient flow through the outpatient ET clinic.
