Overview

Shared Health leads the planning and coordinates the integration of patient-centered clinical and preventive health services across Manitoba. The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.

Position Overview

Under the general supervision of the applicable Director and in collaboration with the Program Teams the incumbent is responsible for:

  • Clinical Application of Wound Care expertise
  • Teaching and learning activities
  • Nursing practice standards
  • Patient education development
  • Administration
  • Professional and Self Development

Note: The priority and percentages of each of the above functions will vary throughout the year and possibly from year to year.

Experience
  • Recent nursing experience in enterostomal / skin and wound care management required.
  • Previous experience in staff education and patient and family teaching an asset.
  • Recent experience in performing ankle brachial index (ABI / ABPI) an asset.
  • Knowledge of community (homecare) and primary health delivery model an asset.
Education (Degree / Diploma / Certificate)
  • Baccalaureate degree in Nursing required.
  • Masters degree in Nursing is preferred.
  • Completion of post graduate course work and / or certification a recognized wound care program:
  • Interprofessional Wound Care course IIWC Canadian Association Enterostomal Therapy CAET Wound Ostomy Continence Nurse WOCN. Certified Diabetic education an asset.
  • Competency with word processing and presentation programs required.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification / Licensure / Registration
  • Must be registered or eligible for registration with the College of Nurses of Manitoba (C.R.N.M.).
  • Active participation in professional associations e.g. Association of Regulated Nurses of Manitoba (ARNM) preferred.
  • CPR at the Health Care Provider Level required.

Evidence of knowledge of the principles of adult learning and teaching strategies. Demonstrated ability to function creatively and independently. Physical Requirements
  • Hours of work are flexible and may include evening or weekend shifts as required.
  • Work is primarily in a clinical setting.

This position requires a current satisfactory Criminal Records Check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) Child Abuse Registry Check and Adult Abuse Registry Check as conditions of employment. The successful candidate will be responsible for any service charges incurred. A security check is considered current if it was obtained no more than six (6) months prior to the start of employment.
