Salopek is growing and currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Human Resources Professional with specialized experience in Workplace Investigations. This independent contractor role is ideal for a collaborative, CPHR or CHRL-designated consultant who is passionate about supporting organizations in managing complex employee relations matters. As a valued member of the Salopek team, the Workplace Investigator will deliver high-quality, impartial HR investigations for a variety of clients, contributing to our continued commitment to excellence and integrity in every engagement.

Duties and Responsibilities :

The Consultant will partner directly with Salopek clients to conduct thorough, objective, and respectful workplace investigations.

Responsibilities include :

• Reviewing and familiarizing with the organization’s relevant policies, procedures, and workplace context
• Ensuring a fair, impartial process while maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the investigation
• Preparing for and conducting interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses
• Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing evidence to determine objective findings
• Preparing a comprehensive final report outlining the investigation process, findings, and rationale
• Providing clear, practical recommendations to key stakeholders based on the findings
• Supporting post-investigation activities such as conflict resolution, mediation, and workplace culture assessments, as needed

The Consultant may collaborate with other Salopek team members, depending on the investigation's complexity and scope, to ensure high-quality support for clients.

Qualifications :

• Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree is required; specialization in Human Resources, Business, or a related field is considered an asset
• CPHR or CHRL designation is required, along with formal training or coursework in workplace investigation
• Candidates with an advanced degree in a related field who are actively pursuing a professional HR designation will also be considered
• Licensure as a Workplace Investigator is considered an asset
• Minimum of 12 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years leading workplace investigations
• Certification or training in conflict resolution and mediation is preferred
• Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and human rights frameworks
• Demonstrated ability to conduct research and produce clear, objective, and well-structured reports
• Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities
• Strong client service orientation, with a high level of discretion, professionalism, and integrity
• Proven ability to work independently while maintaining a collaborative, team-oriented approach
• Must carry or obtain active Professional Liability Insurance

Working Conditions :

• Independent contractor role, engaged on an on-call basis as needed
• Most consulting work is completed remotely, with occasional in-person work based on client location and investigation needs
• Consultants must maintain a functional and confidential home office environment to conduct professional services
