Salopek is growing and currently offers an exciting opportunity for a Senior Human Resources Professional with specialized experience in Workplace Investigations. This independent contractor role is ideal for a collaborative, CPHR or CHRL-designated consultant passionate about supporting organizations in managing complex employee relations matters. As a valued member of the Salopek team, the Workplace Investigator will deliver high-quality, impartial HR investigations for various clients, contributing to our commitment to excellence and integrity.

Duties and Responsibilities:

The Consultant will partner directly with Salopek clients to conduct thorough, objective, and respectful workplace investigations.

Responsibilities include:

  • Reviewing and familiarizing with the organization’s policies, procedures, and workplace context
  • Ensuring a fair, impartial process, maintaining confidentiality, professionalism, and integrity throughout the investigation
  • Preparing for and conducting interviews with complainants, respondents, and witnesses
  • Collecting, reviewing, and analyzing evidence to determine objective findings
  • Preparing a comprehensive final report outlining the investigation process, findings, and rationale
  • Providing clear, practical recommendations to stakeholders based on findings
  • Supporting post-investigation activities such as conflict resolution, mediation, and workplace culture assessments as needed

The Consultant may collaborate with other team members depending on the investigation's scope to ensure high-quality support for clients.

Qualifications:

  • Completion of a post-secondary diploma or degree; specialization in Human Resources, Business, or related fields is an asset
  • CPHR or CHRL designation is required, along with formal training or coursework in workplace investigation
  • Candidates pursuing a related advanced degree and active HR designation will be considered
  • Licensure as a Workplace Investigator is an asset
  • Minimum of 12 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 5 years leading investigations
  • Training in conflict resolution and mediation is preferred
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian employment legislation and human rights frameworks
  • Ability to produce clear, objective, and well-structured reports
  • Excellent planning, organizational, and time management skills
  • High client service orientation, discretion, professionalism, and integrity
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Must carry or obtain active Professional Liability Insurance

Working Conditions:

  • Independent contractor, engaged on an on-call basis
  • Most work is remote; occasional in-person work may be required based on client needs
  • Maintain a confidential and functional home office environment
