Job summary

The City of Edmonton's Edmonton Police Service seeks an organized, detail‑oriented administrative clerk to support the 24/7 Charge Support Units of the Detainee Charge & Care Branch. Responsibilities include intake procedures, bail package preparation, information entry in JOIN, preparation of warrant summaries, and tracking charge files.

The role requires strong communication, data accuracy, and teamwork in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

  • Completion of 12th grade with business subjects or a certificate program in business/word processing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • High data-entry speed and accuracy with strong organizational skills.
  • Self-initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with JOIN, EPROS, CPIC, NICHE is an asset.

Job description

The Edmonton Police Service requires one (1) organized, detail-oriented, flexible individual to provide administrative services to the 24/7 Charge Support Units of the Detainee Charge & Care Branch.

Responsibilities will include:
  • Intake Procedures and Bail package preparation for presentation at bail hearings.
  • Preparing information in JOIN.
  • Preparation of Warrant Summaries and verification of Outstanding Warrants.
  • Tracking and processing of incoming Charge files and follow-up reports.
  • Cross training with the other clerk positions within the Branch to ensure that the workflow is managed efficiently.
  • Other related duties as required.
  • Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to word and information processing or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college, supplemented by training in basic microcomputer applications and a minimum of two (2) years diversified word and information processing experience. OR Completion of the twelfth (12th) school grade including business subjects related to data entry or completion of an appropriate certificate program from an approved business school/college and a minimum of t wo (2) years diversified data entry experience including general office procedures.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Able to enter data with a high degree of accuracy and speed.
  • Demonstrated self-initiative and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience with JOIN, EPROS, CPIC, and NICHE is an asset.
  • Experience reading and interpreting CPIC, NICHE and JOIN information would be considered an asset.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Mature individual with the ability to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary team setting.
  • Positive attitude.

Hours of Work: 40 hours per week, in a rotational 24 hours a day, 7 day/week schedule (Varied 12-hour shifts)

Salary Range: 21B, Salary Grade: 007, $25.17 - $31.25 (Hourly), $2,013.90 - $2,500.50 (Bi-Weekly), $52,563.31 - $65,262.53 (Annually). The rates quoted are in accordance with a collective agreement between the Union and the City of Edmonton.
