Job summary

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) in Oakville, Ontario, is seeking a part-time ceramics instructor to teach children, youth and adults in both ceramic studios. The role involves developing engaging curriculum and delivering hands-on classes including hand building and wheel throwing.

The successful candidate will have enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary ceramics program, proven teaching experience with diverse groups, and the ability to work independently

Qualifications

• Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program specializing in ceramics.
• Experience developing clay lessons and activity plans for children, youth and adults in a ceramic studio.
• Previous teaching experience in ceramics in an educational setting.
• Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of contemporary craft and ceramics including hand building and wheel throwing.
• Familiar with a broad range of artistic techniques, practices and materials with hand building and wheel throwing.
• Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills.
• Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences.
• Ability to work independently.
• HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development (PHCD) for instructing children’s programs ages 4-12 years.

Responsibilities

• To provide instruction to children, youth and adults in the two QEPCCC ceramic studios.
• Preparing, leading and delivering children, youth and adult clay classes, including hand building and wheel throwing.
• Assisting with research and development of appropriate clay programming for children, youth and adults, ensuring that activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
• Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
• To support Town department objectives and mandate

Job Responsibilities
