Job description

The Wireless Engineer or Field Network Technician plays a primary role in the design, installation, testing, implementation, and maintenance of the wireless network infrastructure for our customers. The Wireless Engineer is responsible for the design, implementation, operation and maintenance of multiple, multi-site, high density wireless infrastructure. The position requires travel weekly for a day or two at a time.

Essential Functions / Knowledge Requirements

1. Work with end user clients to perform wireless diagnostic surveys and installations of infrastructure, hardware, and technology.
2. Inspect completed work to ensure all hardware is tight, antennas are level, hangers are properly fastened, proper support is in place, or adequate weather proofing has been installed.
3. Run appropriate power, ground, or coaxial cables.
4. Take site survey photos or photos of work performed, using digital cameras.
5. Complete reports related to project status, progress, or other work details, using computer software.
6. Perform maintenance or repair work on existing tower equipment, using hand or power tools.
7. Terminate low voltage network cables.
8. Perform wireless diagnostic surveys at client locations.
9. Regularly interact with end user clients in a professional manner in person, via telephone and email.
10. Assist sales team members with technical questions or issues.
11. Install computers and other technology on customer owned forklifts.
12. Install new electrical (AC) lines to support hardware being installed (e.g., access points, switches, etc.).
13. Install networking hardware such as switches in customer data centers.
14. Perform onsite configuration of wireless and other networking and mobile computing hardware.
15. May be involved in the planning, organization, and implementation of special events, specific projects, or program changes.
16. Employee may be asked to complete related duties other than those indicated above as assigned by their supervisor.

Qualifications

1. High School Diploma with a minimum of 3+ years’ experience troubleshooting mobile computing hardware and/or software experience. Associates Degree with a minimum of 5 years of experience preferred.
2. Strong written and oral communication skills.
3. Ability to recognize situations/operations with potential for improvement and to identify, develop, present, and propose possible solutions.
4. Self-motivated - ability to work diligently for the success of TRG and the client’s business interest without constant supervision.
5. Willingness to take on challenges and to continually adapt to new requirements through research, learning, and growth. Adaptability and flexibility are required.
6. Boom/Scissor lift training preferred.
7. Ability to interact with people of all backgrounds with respect.
8. Ability to accept critical feedback with a positive attitude. Willingness to admit to mistakes.
9. Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions or approaches to problems.
10. Ability to calmly handle pressure situations which involve restoration of critical operations.
11. Must be able to pass a background check.
12. Ability to travel nationally 80%.
