Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia's Department of Public Works is seeking a Winter Supervisor of Maintenance for 17 weeks to oversee snow and ice control activities across Brookfield and Londonderry. You will provide direction, daily supervision, and ensure safe, timely operations during extreme winter conditions.

Qualifications

• The successful applicant will meet one of the following requirements: High School and 4 years of related experience (2 of the 4 years must be in snow and ice control services); Civil Engineering Technology Diploma plus 2 years of experience in snow and ice control services; or an acceptable equivalent of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, technical support, and daily supervision, while monitoring and maintaining service levels.
• Assist in planning and coordinating routes, staffing, equipment assignments and repairs; oversee work on job sites.
• Ensure stocks of road salt and traction sand are replenished daily.
• Possibly conduct preliminary site investigations, prepare cost estimates, and inspect maintenance contracts.
• Maintain professional and courteous communication with the public and stakeholders.

Education

High School and 4 years of related experience (2 of the 4 years must be in snow and ice control services)

Civil Engineering Technology Diploma plus 2 years of experience in snow and ice control services
