Job summary

The Government of Nova Scotia, Department of Public Works, is seeking a Winter Supervisor of Maintenance to oversee snow and ice control activities across assigned routes. You will plan staffing, equipment assignments, route coordination and contract oversight to ensure safe roads and efficient service.

Responsibilities include supervising daily operations, monitoring service levels, preparing cost estimates, maintaining salt and sand supplies, and working with unions and time reporting systems

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 4 years of related experience (2 in snow and ice control)
• Civil Engineering Technology Diploma with 2 years snow and ice control experience
• Equivalency of education, training and experience

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, technical support and daily supervision of snow and ice control activities while monitoring service levels.
• Assist planning and coordination of routes, staffing, equipment, repairs and contracts.
• Ensure stocks of road salt and traction sand are replenished daily.
• Conduct site investigations, prepare cost estimates and inspect maintenance contracts.
• Deliver solutions and excellent service to the public and stakeholders.

Education

High School diploma + 4 years related experience (2 in snow and ice control)

Civil Engineering Technology Diploma + 2 years snow and ice control experience
