Job summary

Government of Nova Scotia is seeking a Winter Supervisor of Maintenance to oversee snow and ice control activities across assigned areas. You will plan routes, supervise crews, manage equipment, and ensure daily salt and sand replenishment while coordinating contracts.

The role requires strong planning, supervisory experience and solid communication skills. This seasonal position runs through the winter period, with potential extended hours during extreme weather and travel across sites.

Qualifications

• High School and 4 years of related experience (2 of the 4 years must be in snow and ice control services).
• Civil Engineering Technology Diploma plus 2 years of experience in snow and ice control services.
• An acceptable equivalent of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, technical support, and daily supervision while monitoring and maintaining service levels.
• Plan and coordinate routes, staffing, equipment assignments and repair; oversee on-site work.
• Ensure stocks of road salt and traction sand are replenished daily and inspect maintenance contracts.
