Job summary

Matrix is seeking strong and motivated Heavy Duty Mechanics to join our maintenance team. You’ll keep our surface fleet operating safely, reliably, and production-ready on every shift. Location: Bathurst Inlet, Nunavut.

Schedule: 3 weeks on, 3 weeks off. Remote camps; travel paid. Requirements: Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic; 3–5 years mining equipment maintenance; CAT ET and CAT SIS proficiency; hydraulics, electrical systems, diesel powertrains; reading wiring diagrams; ability

Qualifications

• Red Seal / Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic
• 3–5 years mining equipment maintenance experience
• Demonstrated experience maintaining surface fleet equipment
• Strong working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
• Electrical systems (12V/24V/480V)
• Diesel powertrain components
• CAT ET and CAT SIS proficiency
• Valid safety training (WHMIS, LOTO, confined space)
• Experience working in remote and northern conditions

Responsibilities

• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on surface fleet equipment
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical faults
• Troubleshoot electronic and control system issues using manufacturer diagnostics, including CAT ET and CAT SIS
• Maintain and troubleshoot diesel powertrain components, hydraulic systems, and related assemblies
• Complete inspections and work orders with accurate, clear documentation
• Follow service manual procedures and ensure repairs meet safety and operational requirements
• Respond to breakdowns and support planned shutdowns under production timelines
• Conduct work in accordance with all site safety procedures (LOTO, confined space where applicable)
• Participate in failure analysis / root cause troubleshooting and continuous improvement
