Job summary

ATCO Frontec in Resolute Bay, NU is seeking a Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic to join Site Services. You’ll repair, overhaul, maintain and service diesel-powered vehicles and heavy equipment in a remote Arctic environment.

The role offers a 4 weeks on/4 weeks off rotation, 10 hours per day, with travel, accommodation and meals provided. Safety sensitive position requiring pre-employment checks and a security clearance.

Qualifications

• Red Seal Heavy Duty Mechanic certification is required
• Valid class 3 driver’s license is required
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
• Good verbal and written communications skills
• Able to manage time and make decisions in a fast-paced environment
• Able to weld, gas and AC/DC is a strong asset
• Experience working in a remote environment is considered an asset
• Strong commitment to follow workplace safety requirements and procedures
• Able to perform a physically strenuous and demanding job i.e. lifting, pulling and
• Must be prepared to work in extreme weather conditions

Responsibilities

• Repairs, overhauls, maintains, and services diesel-powered vehicles, heavy trucks, heavy construction equipment, graders, dump trucks, and excavators
• Fabricates, constructs, installs, and repairs equipment and machinery
• Diagnoses equipment problems and determines repairs needed
• Demonstrates continuous effort to improve operations, decrease turnaround times, and streamline work processes
• May be called upon to operate other equipment
• Other duties as assigned
