Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada is seeking a student (fixed term) to operate highway maintenance equipment during the winter season. The role includes snow plowing, salting and basic vehicle maintenance, with on-call and overtime as needed. Training is provided and a valid driver’s licence is required.

Based in Hanwell/Dow Settlement area, NB, the position offers hourly pay plus a $1,000 monthly winter bonus and a pathway to learn in a hands-on environment with safety-focused practice.

Qualifications

• No experience required. Training provided.
• Valid driver’s licence (Class 1 or 3 preferred).
• Clean driving record.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Available for shifts, overtime, and on-call winter work.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance vehicles and equipment including snow plow trucks, dump trucks, loaders, skid steer loaders, tractors and light vehicles.
• Perform snow and ice control activities including plowing, sanding and salting.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform general highway maintenance and labour duties as required.
• Set up traffic control and assist with emergency response and site clean-up.
• Complete daily work records and reports.
• Assist mechanics with routine vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Assist with yard maintenance and general housekeeping.
• Work rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
• Overtime and on-call work may be required during winter weather events.
