Job summary

AtkinsRéalis is seeking a winter maintenance operator to support highway upkeep in the Hanwell/Dow Settlement area, NB. You will operate snow plow trucks, loaders, and other equipment, perform pre-trip inspections, and assist with traffic control and site clean-up during winter operations.

No experience is required as training is provided; a valid driver's license is preferred, along with the ability to work outdoors in all weather and to handle on-call winter shifts.

• Valid driver’s license (Class 1 or 3 preferred).
• Clean driving record.
• Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
• Available for shifts, overtime and on-call winter work.
• Reliable, safety-focused, and willing to learn.

Responsibilities

• Operate highway maintenance vehicles and equipment (snow plow trucks, dump trucks, loaders, skid steer loaders, tractors and light vehicles).
• Perform snow and ice control (plowing, sanding, salting).
• Complete pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles/equipment.
• Conduct general highway maintenance and labour tasks as required.
• Set up traffic control and assist with emergency response and site clean-up.

This position is responsible for operating a variety of equipment and performing manual labour required to maintain highway and right-of-way assets in accordance with OMR standards and contractual requirements.

This role will be based in Hanwell/Dow Settlement area, NB.

Compensation: Hourly wage plus a $1,000 monthly winter bonus.

Your role

• Operate highway maintenance vehicles and equipment including snow plow trucks, dump trucks, loaders, skid steer loaders, tractors and light vehicles.
• Perform snow and ice control activities including plowing, sanding and salting.
• Complete pre-trip inspections and basic maintenance of vehicles and equipment.
• Perform general highway maintenance and labour duties as required.
• Set up traffic control and assist with emergency response and site clean-up.
• Complete daily work records and reports.
• Assist mechanics with routine vehicle and equipment maintenance as needed.
• Assist with yard maintenance and general housekeeping.
• Work rotating shifts during Winter Operations.
• Overtime and on-call work may be required during winter weather events.
