Job summary

Vancouver Island University (VIU) is seeking a snow removal crew member to clear snow and de-ice roadways, walkways, and stairs across campus. You will work under a Zone Captain, assigned a section, and coordinate with a team to address priority areas.

Duties occur outdoors during winter, with early start times to align with VIU’s severe weather procedures. Applicants should be prepared for overnight and early-morning shifts in cold conditions and wear weather-appropriate clothing.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 completion required.
• Experience operating basic hand tools and snow removal equipment.
• Ability to perform prolonged physical activity in cold weather.
• Must work outdoors in winter conditions.

Responsibilities

• Clear snow and de-ice roadways, walkways, and stairs.
• Work under a Zone Captain and be assigned a section to ensure safety.
• Work in a team to clear areas in priority order.
