Job summary

Onyx-Fire Group seeks a Western Region Health and Safety Manager to lead safety programs across Western Canada, reporting to the National Safety Director. The role emphasizes promoting a proactive safety culture, coordinating with managers, workers, and subcontractors, and ensuring regulatory compliance.

The position requires travel across BC, Alberta, Saskatchewan, and Manitoba, with primary work location discussed during recruitment.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years in health and safety management, advisory, or similar role.
• Strong knowledge of Western Canada safety legislation and best practices.
• CSAM/ACSA COR auditor qualifications are preferred.
• Experience supporting COR programs, audits, inspections, and investigations.

Responsibilities

• Promote and improve health and safety programs across Western Canada.
• Ensure compliance with provincial OH&S legislation and standards.
• Maintain COR program requirements for Manitoba and Alberta operations via CSAM/ACSA.
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits, and risk assessments.
• Provide guidance to managers on hazard assessments and safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents and support corrective actions and return-to-work plans.
• Update safety policies, procedures, and training materials.
• Deliver safety education, orientation, and training.
• Monitor safety performance and identify improvement trends.
• Oversee contractor compliance platforms like ISNetworld and Avetta.
