Job summary

Onyx-Fire Protection Services Inc. seeks a Western Region Health and Safety Manager to promote a safe work environment across Western Canada. You will support employees and contractors, ensure regulatory compliance, and advance safety programs in multiple provinces.

The role requires collaboration with managers and leaders, strong communication skills, and travel across BC, AB, SK and MB as needed. Primary work location will be determined during recruitment.

Qualifications

• Degree or diploma in occupational health and safety or related field, or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of three years in health and safety in a management/advisory role, preferably in construction or service.
• Strong knowledge of Western Canada OH&S legislation, regs and standards.
• CSAM and ACSA COR auditor qualifications preferred.
• Experience supporting COR programs, audits and investigations.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, organizational and problem‑solving skills.
• Ability to travel across Western Canada as required.

Responsibilities

• Support development and improvement of health and safety programs across Western Canada.
• Ensure compliance with provincial OH&S legislation, regs and best practices.
• Maintain COR requirements for Manitoba (CSAM) and Alberta (ACSA).
• Conduct workplace inspections, audits and risk assessments to identify hazards.
• Provide guidance to managers on hazard assessments, risk mitigation and safe work practices.
• Investigate incidents and near-misses and drive corrective actions.
• Prepare return-to-work and modified-duty plans with operational leaders.
• Draft incident investigation reports and supporting docs.
• Update health and safety policies, procedures and training materials.
• Deliver safety education, orientation and training; monitor performance and trends.
• Oversee contractor-compliance platforms (ISNetworld, Avetta, etc.).
• Foster relationships with employees, supervisors, clients and regulators.
