Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, is seeking a Welder Apprentice to perform welding and fabrication in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will support the fabrication of prototypes, jigs, fixtures and metal structures according to drawings and welding procedures.

The role requires reading blueprints, setting up GTAW/GMAW/FCAW/SMAW, and adherence to safety, quality, and continuous improvement practices as part of an apprenticeship path in Alberta.

Qualifications

  • Must be registered as an Apprentice Welder with Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training (AIT).
  • Minimum 500 hours welding experience.
  • Ability to obtain CSA W47.1/W47.2 certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Read blueprints, shop drawings and welding symbols.
  • Set up welding equipment and join metal with GTAW, GMAW, FCAW, SMAW.
  • Perform flame-cutting and thermal cutting.
  • Assist with fabrication equipment like brakes and shears.
  • Maintain weld quality and report defects.
  • Adhere to safety and 5S program.
