Job summary

Silent-Aire, a division of Johnson Controls, seeks a Welder Apprentice for its Alberta manufacturing facility. You will perform welding and fabrication tasks under the guidance of a Journeyperson, reading blueprints and following welding procedures to support prototype and production work.

Ideal candidates are enrolled in an approved trade program, have at least 500 hours of welding experience, and are committed to progressing toward Journeyperson certification, with safety as a priority in a

Qualifications

• High school diploma required.
• Must be registered as an Apprentice Welder with Alberta AIT and actively enrolled in an approved trade school program.
• Minimum of 500 hours of welding experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain CWB CSA W47.1 and/or W47.2 certifications.
• Exposure to reading and interpreting basic blueprints and welding symbols is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Read, interpret and apply blueprints, shop drawings, welding symbols under supervision.
• Set up and operate welding equipment to join metal components using GTAW, GMAW, FCAW and SMAW per procedures.
• Perform flame-cutting and thermal cutting as required.
• Assist with fabrication and forming equipment such as brakes, shears and bends.
• Perform fit-up, tack welding and basic repairs or rework as directed.
