Job summary

Commissionaires BC in Surrey is seeking a Security Officer to work with local businesses and the community in the Newton BIA area. The role includes Saturday and Sunday shifts from 0800 to 1600, with a payrate of $24/hr.

You will assist RCMP, patrol on foot, observe and report incidents, and build strong community relations. Required qualifications include BC security license, First Aid, Advanced Security Training, and at least 2 years in a security role.

Qualifications

• Valid BC security license is required.
• First Aid Certificate required.
• Advanced Security Training Certificate required.
• Minimum of 2 years’ security experience in a similar environment.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Proven experience dealing with various members of the public.
• Time-management and organizational skills.
• Able to conduct extensive foot patrols on shift.
• De-escalation certification.
• Naloxone training certification.

Responsibilities

• Assisting the RCMP as a visible community presence to promote safety and security.
• Working with local businesses and community members to ensure safe environment.
• Observe and report any unusual activity.
• Taking detailed notes to investigate incidents promptly and accurately.
• Establishing positive relationships with transit police, business owners, and community members.
• Engaging with the public and responding to their concerns and inquiries.
