Job summary

Kongsberg Geospatial in Ottawa, Ontario, is seeking a Web Developer to support the design, development, and improvement of web applications. You will contribute to front-end features built primarily in React and TypeScript, and work within a small, collaborative team.

This 6-month full-time hybrid role offers exposure to real-time geospatial interfaces and a path toward full-stack growth as you expand backend skills.

Our team is growing and we’re seeking a Web Developer to support the design, development, and improvement of several new and existing web applications.

This is a 6-month full-time position with the possibility of extension.

This is a hybrid position located in Ottawa, Ontario.

What You’ll Create

We develop systems that integrate complex sensor interfaces, data, and equipment. We tie it all together using an assortment of middleware technologies and present it using innovative modern graphical user interfaces. Our user experiences provide application operators visualization of geospatial map and terrain data, imagery, video feeds, and sensor controls overlaid with real-time data.

We are seeking someone with front-end experience on several web application centric programs. As a member of a motivated and structured development team, you will contribute to the development and design of front-end web-based software (primarily built in React) while gradually expanding your skills in back-end development to become a full-stack developer.

Duties Include:

• Design, implement, and unit-test new web application features from concept to delivery.
• Promote software quality through peer design and code reviews.
• Actively participate in Scrum ceremonies help continuously improve team practices.
• Work directly with customers to create solutions that solve targeted operational needs.

You Have:

• A Canadian security clearance or eligibility to obtain one.
• A post-secondary degree or diploma in a field related to Computer Science or Engineering, or equivalent relevant experience.
• 0-3 years of professional software development experience.
• Experience developing front-end components using React and TypeScript.
• Experience with version control.
• Strong problem solving, critical thinking, and communication skills.

It will be great if you have:

• Experience with Material UI.
• Experience with web maps using OpenLayers.
• Experience with Zustand.
• Experience with unit and integration testing.
• Experience with UX and UI design.
• Experience with communication & streaming protocols.
• Experience and/or knowledge of OGC standards.

The base salary range for this role is $75,000 - $125,000. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including job-related skills, experience, internal equity and relevant education or training.
