Job summary

Ontario Clean Water Agency (OCWA) is seeking a Waste and Water Project Operator to oversee the operation of a high‑level water transmission network across three municipalities. The role requires hands‑on operation of pumps, tanks and monitoring equipment with a focus on safety and regulatory compliance.

The successful candidate will hold a Class 1 Water Treatment certification (or be eligible for the Operator‑in‑Training underfill) and possess a valid G driver’s license.

Qualifications

• Must have Class 1 Water Treatment certification or be eligible for underfill as Operator-in-Training.
• Ability to operate and inspect complex water systems and SCADA monitoring.
• Comfort with rotating shifts including days, afternoons and nights.
• Valid G driver’s license required.
• Willingness to participate in overtime and on-call as part of a rotation.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class 4 transmission system across multiple facilities including pumping and booster stations.
• Monitor, inspect and maintain water and wastewater facilities in compliance with regulations.
• Respond to on-call requests and emergency situations in a timely manner.
• Work with safety procedures and protective equipment in varied environments.
• Document readings, maintenance actions and repairs in CMMS/SCADA systems.
