Job summary

The City of Saskatoon is seeking a Water Systems Operator/Equipment Operator V to operate, inspect and maintain the water distribution system to ensure safe drinking water and reliable service. This safety-sensitive role reports to the Supervisor VI (Water Operations).

Responsibilities include troubleshooting all water system components, field sampling, monitoring meters and pressure devices, and maintaining thorough records. Shift and weekend work will be required.

Qualifications

• Grade 12 or equivalent required with related water system operation experience.
• Level 2 Water Distribution Operator Certification is required; Level 3 is an asset.
• Fireman's Certificate and Class 3A Licence are required.
• Current SGI driver's abstract demonstrating a safe driving record.

Responsibilities

• Operate and troubleshoot water distribution components and maintain system.
• Inspect and service valves, hydrants and connections.
• Perform basic water quality sampling and testing.
• Respond to customer inquiries about water pressure and quality.
• Install and maintain temporary water services.
• Monitor meters and pressure devices; use leak listening gear.
• Conduct hydraulic evaluations and manage system data.
• Maintain records and prepare reports of field activities.
• Operate mobile steam boilers and perform related maintenance.
• Take on additional duties as assigned.
