Job summary

City of Williams Lake is seeking a skilled Water/Wastewater worker to perform maintenance, repair, and inspection across water and sewer systems. You will locate utilities before digging, ensure safety practices, and support emergency responses as needed.

The role requires EOCP Level II certifications (Water Distribution and Wastewater Collection), a Class 3 BC driver’s license, and at least three years in municipal water/sewer work. Willingness to train further is expected.

Qualifications

  • Valid BC Driver's License - Class 3 with Air Endorsement.
  • EOCP Water Distribution Level II Certification.
  • EOCP Wastewater Collection Level II Certification.
  • Minimum 3 years of municipal water & sewer maintenance experience.
  • Proficiency in safe operation of Water/Sewer Division equipment.
  • English written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Manual labour in construction, repair, and maintenance within the Water and Waste Division.
  • Maintain and repair the Water Distribution, Sanitary Sewer, and Storm Water systems.
  • Determine locations of gas, telephone, power, and other utility lines before excavation.
  • Account for inventory moved from warehouse for projects or maintenance.
  • Promote and follow safe work practices per City/WorkSafe BC guidelines.
  • Review and orient staff on safety at water and wastewater facilities.
  • Respond to emergency maintenance calls and work in inclement weather.
  • Work shift rotations and overtime as required.
  • Assist with other duties to support day-to-day operations.
