Job summary

Barr Engineering Co. in Canada seeks a water resources consultant with GoldSim expertise to develop water balance models and support mining and industrial water management.

You will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver practical, innovative solutions for environmental challenges and client needs. The role requires at least 5 years of hands-on experience in water balances, strong communication skills, and a flexible, collaborative approach.

Qualifications

• Education: bachelor’s degree in civil, environmental, or mining engineering with emphasis on mine water management or a related discipline.
• Experience: at least 5 years of water balances, water resources analysis and modelling, or leading water resources projects in mining.
• Experience developing water balance models, spreadsheet-based and advanced simulation tools, especially GoldSim.
• Understanding of mine operations, pits, dams and processing over time as it relates to water management.
• Knowledge of GoldSim and other common modelling software.

Responsibilities

• Technical knowledge: use GoldSim for water balance development, forecasting, risk assessment and regulatory compliance; translate outputs for technical and non-technical audiences.
• Project management: plan, coordinate, and execute projects; mentor junior staff and provide QA/QC.
