Barr is seeking a senior water resources consultant with a focus in mine water management to serve as a mine water practice lead. In this hybrid role you will work with multidisciplinary project teams providing project and/or task management and technical support for Barr’s mining clients and clients in heavy industry and power generation.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in mathematics, science, engineering, or a related discipline.
Experience (required): 10+ years of relevant experience, including developing water balance models (spreadsheet-based and advanced simulation tools), designing surface water impoundments (process ponds, water supply dams, reservoirs), conducting statistical analysis of hydrological data, and advising clients on mine water management strategies.
Skills (required): Probabilistic analysis or modelling, uncertainty analyses or Monte Carlo analyses, and experience with hydrologic, hydraulic, and water quality methods and modelling tools.
Licenses/Certifications (required): Current, valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record; legally authorized to work in Canada without sponsorship.
Helpful additional experience (not required): More than 10 years on projects directly related to job responsibilities, M.Sc. or PhD degrees, P.Eng. registration or eligibility, experience with software such as GoldSim, HEC‑RAS, HEC‑HMS, XPSWMM/PCSWMM, HSPF, HydroCAD, MIKE Suite, and advanced data analysis, visualization, and presentation.
Annual salary range of $140,000–$180,000, plus discretionary cash bonus based on performance. Position is classified as exempt (salaried) under the Fair Labor Standards Act.
