Job summary

SLR Consulting Canada is seeking a Water Quality Technician to join our Northwest Territories projects, including mine sites. The role blends field and office work, focusing on surface water sampling, data management, and report preparation for environmental programs.

Ideal candidates have 4+ years in environmental consulting, strong data handling skills, and a commitment to safety. Travel to remote locations in Canada may be required, with opportunities to mentor staff and advance project

Qualifications

• Degree or technical diploma in environmental science, engineering, or related studies.
• Familiarity with groundwater and surface water quality sampling and monitoring.
• Strong health and safety commitment and drivers licence.

Responsibilities

• Surface water quality monitoring and sampling, including open channel flow monitoring.
• Deep groundwater sampling using the Westbay system; manage field data and notes.
• Shallow groundwater monitoring with purge/resample and low-flow methods.
• Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot field equipment and probes.
• Collect field data on tablets using EQuIS Collect, Field Maps and Survey123; potential drone use.
• Sample mine drainage and pond waters; support aquatics monitoring programs.
• Quality control sampling and data management; oversee program tasks.
• Collaborate with government agencies and clients; ensure high satisfaction.
• Uphold Occupational Health and Safety policies for field and office work.
