Job summary

Trinity Consultants Canada is seeking an Aquatic Scientist to join the Water & Ecology team in Whitehorse. You will contribute to planning and delivering water monitoring, aquatic assessments and field programs across Yukon and Canada.

The role emphasizes scientific excellence, data management, and collaboration with clients, regulators, First Nations, and other partners, while offering mentorship and development opportunities.

Qualifications

• Professional Biologist (R.P.Bio.), EP, or equivalent designation (or eligibility for registration).
• 3-5 years of relevant field experience and data management.
• Knowledge of statistical analysis.
• Experience in the mining sector is an asset.
• Experience designing baseline assessment programs, including the selection, establishment, and monitoring of aquatic sampling stations.
• Excellent report and proposals delivery and editing skills.
• Ability to communicate complex scientific information clearly to diverse audiences.
• Strong time management, organizational, and multi-tasking skills.
• Willingness to travel to remote or northern project sites and conduct fieldwork.

Responsibilities

• Support the planning and implementation of water monitoring and aquatic assessment projects and field programs; primarily in the Yukon, but also potentially across Canada.
• Participate in and lead water quality monitoring and aquatic resource field studies, including field equipment organization and data collection.
• Conduct assessments focused on fish habitat, fish communities and health, integrating geomorphology, limnology, hydrology, water/sediment quality, and benthic invertebrate communities.
• Conduct water sampling programs, including surface water, groundwater, and hydrological monitoring.
• Manage data contributing to / leading report development.
• Contribute expertise to large multi-disciplinary projects with senior staff, clients, regulators, and stakeholders.
• Represent Trinity Consultants Canada - Water & Ecology in the scientific community through high-quality deliverables and engagement.
