Job summary

ERM in Canada (Yellowknife, NT) seeks an experienced Managing Technical Consultant, Environmental Scientist to lead freshwater/marine field programs, mentor multidisciplinary teams, and deliver strategic environmental solutions across Canada.

You will guide studies informing regulatory processes and support environmental permitting, monitoring, and impact assessments while growing client relationships and ensuring technical excellence.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Aquatic Biology, Marine Biology or similar discipline.
  • 4+ years organizing, managing, and executing field programs, including boating and remote locations.
  • Strong data management, analysis, and presentation skills.
  • Strong commitment to safety, including following established Health & Safety protocols.
  • Expertise with Federal, Provincial, and Territorial regulations and guidelines.
  • Excellent writing, communication, and time management skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead projects, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and manage competing priorities.
  • Enjoys working collaboratively and independently; able to travel and work remotely when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee freshwater and/or marine field programs from planning through execution.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary project teams and provide technical guidance.
  • Manage project deliverables, schedules, budgets, and quality expectations.
  • Compile, manage, review, and analyze water quality, sediment quality, and biological datasets.
  • Interpret scientific findings and develop practical recommendations for clients and stakeholders.
  • Prepare, review, and deliver technical reports, including environmental monitoring reports and impact assessments.
  • Support data management and quality assurance processes.
  • Collaborate with toxicologists, geochemists, hydrologists, fisheries biologists, wildlife biologists, and other specialists to develop integrated environmental solutions.
  • Maintain safety requirements and participate in health and safety committees.
  • Support client relationships and business development through technical expertise and service.
  • Travel to project sites and remote locations as required.
