Job summary

Lac Ste. Anne County is seeking a dedicated Waste Management Operator to support the delivery of vital waste management services across the County.

This hands-on role involves safe collection, transportation, and disposal of waste while serving residents and supporting environmental stewardship initiatives. Reporting to the Utilities Supervisor, you will operate waste collection equipment, inspect loads, maintain records, and ensure transfer station operations run safely and efficiently.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
• Valid Alberta Driver’s License must be held during employment.
• Demonstrates initiative, responsibility and safe operation of equipment.
• Good judgment, diligence and duty of care.
• Ability to operate equipment safely and work alone or with others.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience with electronic data collection equipment (weigh scales) is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport refuse from transfer stations to the main County site.
• Operate skid steer loaders and small tractors as needed.
• Collect and transport refuse from residential locations.
• Inspect waste loads for environmental compliance.
• Maintain waste records and work orders.
• Coordinate pick-ups according to schedules.
• Keep equipment and vehicles clean and in good condition.
• Support safety, customer service and environmental stewardship initiatives.
