Job summary

The City of Regina seeks a Waste Minimization Specialist to lead the research, operation, monitoring, evaluation and maintenance of waste minimization and solid waste management programs and projects. This role reports to the Specialist - Waste Minimization and collaborates with public, private partners and internal teams to advance waste reduction and recycling initiatives.

Key duties include program implementation, contract development, data reporting, public education and enforcement support,

Qualifications

Degree or diploma in Science, Engineering, Geography, Administration or Commerce.
Experience in solid waste management and public outreach is an asset.
Knowledge of recycling, waste minimization and the Residential/ICI sectors.
Ability to communicate effectively and present to groups.

Responsibilities

Implement, operate, monitor and evaluate waste minimization programs and projects.
Assist in planning and developing programs related to reduction, reuse and recycling.
Engage with public, private and internal partners to promote waste diversion activities.
Prepare reports and respond to inquiries from administration, committees, council, public and stakeholders.
Assist in developing and sustaining contracts, tenders and financial criteria.
Support information/education programs for the public, businesses and schools.
Assist in enforcing bylaws under the Waste Management Bylaw and prepare documentation.
Aid in prosecutions requests and may attend court as a witness.
